このクラスで学べること

Welcome to the Pride Club! This club is led by teachers who are allies or members within the community.

In this club we will get together to chat and learn and explore what identity means.

This club will be ongoing, meaning you can join and leave at anytime. Each week we will have a time for sharing and then a group activity. If the conversation is great that may be our activity for the session.

Daily Format:
Welcome and Introduction: Each week we will welcome new and current students to the group, review safety and class rules, and introduce ourselves.
Check In: Students will get to share what's going on in their worlds, things that they are excited about, or what they've been doing.
Activity: Each week we will do a fun activity from scavenger hunts to online games to student led activities.

Additional activities may include:
Education and Awareness Sessions: Hold sessions that educate members about LGBTQ+ history, terminology, and important figures. This can help build understanding and inclusivity within the world.

Discussion: We will occassionally discuss issues that impact the community such as politics.

Creative Expression Workshops: Conduct workshops focused on creative expression through art, writing, or music. These activities can be both fun and therapeutic.

Book or Film reviews: Members can read and discuss LGBTQ+ themed books or discuss films that explore related themes.

Online Games and Activities: Plan online games or activities that encourage teamwork and bonding among members. This could include LGBTQ+ themed trivia nights.

Community Projects: Collaborate on community projects that promote LGBTQ+ awareness or support, such as creating art for Pride events or organizing virtual campaigns.

Support Circles: Provide a safe space for members to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Encourage peer support and offer resources for those who need help or guidance.

Celebrations and Awareness Events: Plan events around LGBTQ+ awareness days (e.g., National Coming Out Day, Transgender Day of Visibility) to raise awareness and celebrate diversity.

Skill-Building Workshops: Offer workshops that help develop important life skills, such as communication, conflict resolution, and self-advocacy.

Virtual Pride Events: Organize virtual Pride events within the club, such as creating Pride-themed art, sharing personal stories, or hosting a virtual Pride parade.

Online Resources Sharing: Establish a platform for sharing useful online resources, such as articles, videos, or helplines, that can benefit club members and their families.

Collaborative Projects: Encourage members to collaborate on creative projects, such as zines or newsletters, showcasing their talents and voices within the LGBTQ+ community.

We prioritize creating a safe and inclusive environment where all members feel respected and valued. It's important to have clear guidelines for behavior and moderation to ensure everyone's well-being in online interactions. This club is not therapy and should not be user as a therapeutic space or in place of one. All students are welcome in this group. The topic of sexual preference and gender identity will be discussed. Students will be called by the pronouns and names that they share. Students may talk about issues that some parents may deem inappropriate. Since this is a club discussion will often be student led. Topics may vary from week to week. Students will be expected to adhere to club guidelines. Our Guidelines for students: Respect Everyone's Identity: Members must respect each other's gender identities, sexual orientations, and expressions without judgment or discrimination. Use Inclusive Language: Encourage the use of inclusive language that acknowledges and affirms diverse identities. Avoid derogatory language or slurs. Confidentiality and Privacy: Emphasize the importance of confidentiality within the club. Discussions held within the club should remain private to ensure members feel safe sharing personal experiences. Listen and Be Respectful: Encourage active listening and respectful communication during discussions. All members should have the opportunity to speak without interruption or judgment. No Bullying or Harassment: Zero tolerance for bullying, harassment, or any form of discrimination based on gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic. Report any concerns to club moderators immediately. Support Each Other: Foster a supportive atmosphere where members uplift and encourage each other. Offer empathy and understanding to those who may be struggling or need guidance. Respectful Disagreement: Encourage respectful disagreement and discussion of different viewpoints. Teach members how to express opinions respectfully and constructively. Seek Understanding: Encourage members to ask questions and seek understanding about LGBTQ+ identities and experiences. However, questions should be asked respectfully and without making others feel uncomfortable. Participate Actively: Encourage active participation in club activities and discussions. All members should feel valued and included. Report Concerns: Provide clear guidance on how to report any concerns or issues to club moderators or trusted adults. Members should feel empowered to speak up if they witness inappropriate behavior. No Dating: To be a truly safe space no one should date another member within the club.
