Welcome to the Lavender Club! This club is led by teachers who are allies or members within the community. In this club we will get together to chat and learn and explore what identity means. We will talk about current events, activism, history, society, and life in general. This club will be ongoing, meaning you can join and leave at anytime. Each week we will have a time for sharing and then a group activity. If the conversation is great that may be our activity for the session. Daily Format: Welcome and Introduction: Each week we will welcome new and current students to the group, review safety and class rules, and introduce ourselves. Check In: Students will get to share what's going on in their worlds, things that they are excited about, or what they've been doing. Activity: Discussion topics which are student led and student focused. Additional activities may include: Education and Awareness Sessions: Hold sessions that educate members about lavender history, terminology, and important figures. This can help build understanding and inclusivity within the world. You notice that the language in this description is coded for student safety. Discussion: We will discuss issues that impact the community such as politics. Book or Film reviews: Members can read and discuss lavender themed books or discuss films that explore related themes. Online Games and Activities: Plan online games or activities that encourage teamwork and bonding among members. This could include LGBTQ+ themed trivia nights. Collaborate on community projects that promote lavender awareness or support, such as creating art for June/July events or organizing virtual campaigns. A safe space for members to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Encourage peer support and offer resources for those who need help or guidance. Workshops that help develop important life skills, such as communication, conflict resolution, and self-advocacy. Virtual Pride Events: Organize virtual Pride events within the club, such as creating Pride-themed art, sharing personal stories, or hosting a virtual Pride parade.
