This class seeks to engage students in meaningful discussion about books while also touching on literary devices like symbolism, foreshadowing, tone, and voice. This class is open to all, and is a kind, supportive place to read and discuss LGBTQIA+ titles, authors, and stories. ⭐Students may join the class at any point during the month-- the teacher will send new students a message to let them know where to read up to! That said, if students are a little behind on the reading, don't sweat it-- there will be no shaming, we promise. Our goal is a fun, chatty, supportive, and affirming bookish space! 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰: 📚 October Book: CEMETERY BOYS and Aiden Thomas 📚 November Book: TOO BRIGHT TO SEE by Kyle Lukoff 📚 December Book: LUMBERJANES by ND Stevenson ⭐Students may join the class at any point during the month-- the teacher will send new students a message to let them know where to read up to! That said, if students are a little behind on the reading, don't sweat it-- there will be no shaming, we promise! While reading ahead isn't "against the rules", please encourage your student not to get too far ahead, lest they risk accidentally revealing spoilers to the other readers. ⭐Please note that students must independently purchase or borrow the month's selected book-- copies are not provided by myself or Outschool, and are not available for free download anywhere online. These books can be purchased anywhere books are sold.

Parental Guidance
All the books chosen for this class are widely considered suitable for middle school students. However, it's crucial for adults to take into account the unique reading capabilities, emotional maturity, and socio-emotional requirements of their specific learner before enrolling them in this book club. It's worth noting that some of the selected books delve into complex topics including bullying, survival scenarios, themes of sexuality, and some of the more somber episodes of history. Parents and guardians should be aware of these elements to ensure a positive and enriching reading experience for their child.
