Love being online as much as I do? Then you'll know it's not all fun and games. From tricky scams to cyberbullies, the digital world can be a minefield. But fear not! Join our internet safety class and arm yourself and your family with the savvy to surf safely. Don't let the dangers lurk in the shadows – let's navigate this online universe together! I love to be online. I love playing games. I love watching YouTube videos. I love social media. I am also very aware of the dangers that being online presents but when I was younger I had no idea about online safety. I had never heard of phishing, online scammers, and I definitely didn't know that people would try and steal information, cause addiction, or trick me into being unsafe. I learned some of those lessons the hard way. If your child plays games online (Minecraft, WOW, Roblox, Fortnite), has a cell phone or laptop, or spends any time online without you monitoring they should take this class. This online class is an introduction to 5 different aspects of being smart online and keeping your information and your family's information safe. Gaming Addiction Awareness: Recognize signs of gaming addiction and understand the psychological mechanisms behind addictive game design, empowering healthier gaming habits.

Media Awareness
This lesson teaches students how to evaluate media that they see online. Who is the source? Is it trustworthy? Are they known for stretching the truth or outright lying? How can you tell? This first class is dedicated to looking at and critically evaluating media sources. Lesson 2:
Recognizing Scams
Should you click the link in your email? Is that viral post about a poor dog hit on the side of the road true? Is the boy or girl sending you messages and telling you they love you really a real person? This class is an overview of some of the most common scams out there and how to recognize them. Lesson 3:
Online Predators
Most people we meet online are probably safe but some of them may also be "Bad actors" people who may want to hurt us but pretend they're our friends. How can you tell if the person you're playing games with is a 12 year old boy or a 46 year old man? How do you know if the girl who sent you her picture didn't just use someone else's image and isn't who they say they are? This is the scariest of all 5 classes but also very important so that students learn to spot some common tricks used. Lesson 4:
Cyber Bullying
Because kids are connected to each other all the time through social media and being online it's become harder and harder to have a safe haven from bullying. Bullying can now happen at home, on vacation, and it follows students everywhere they go. This lesson discusses recognizing what bullying is and the basics of dealing with it including telling parents what is happening and getting help. Other Details

Parental Guidance
In this class, we address some tough realities of the online world that can be alarming for children. We'll have candid discussions about individuals who pose serious threats, including those who may attempt to harm, deceive, or exploit children. It's essential to equip our kids with knowledge about potential dangers, including the tactics used by predators who prey on their innocence.
Furthermore, we'll delve into the unsettling tactics employed by certain companies aiming to hook children onto addictive games. While these topics may be distressing, it's crucial for students to grasp the gravity of online safety. Our daily homework serves as a vital tool for processing this information and fostering a deeper understanding of how to navigate the digital landscape securely.
This class may be scary for some children.
We will be discussing people who DO try to hurt and trick children, kidnap, or even kill them if they are not careful online.
We will talking about people who are willing to steal, lie, and manipulate feelings and emotions with no regards that the people they are hurting are children.
We will be talking about companies who are purposely trying to get children addicted to games.
All of this may be very upsetting for students.
The daily homework is part of processing this information and an important component.
Even after taking this class students will need parental guidance to make good decisions online.
