Lesson 1
Setting Goals for Junior & Senior Year and Beyond
You will use a graphic organizer to explore a future career, start identifying key dates you need to keep track of, and set goals for the last two years of high school and beyond.
Lesson 2
Self Advocacy and Preparing for Your Future.
You will develop a plan for a productive last two years of high school. review the importance of self advocacy, and record your strengths and experiences to prepare for job and college applications.
Students will take notes on what is discussed on the provided planner.  Students will leave class with a concrete plan for their junior and senior year of high school.
Bridget Smith is a credentialed secondary school teacher, a person with ADHD, and mom to a high school junior, a high school senior, and a high school graduate.  She has worked with over 4,000 learners and their families with ADHD and other learning differences here on Outschool.  She holds a Master's Degree in Education and Teaching from the University of California Santa Cruz.

Learners will receive an optional self assessment at the conclusion of the camp. They can share it with the teacher if they would like to receive feedback.

Class supports executive function development in neurodivergent learners including autistic learners as well as those with ADHD and anxiety. Templates are shared in PDF and Google Doc form to support learners with dyslexia and dysgraphia.

I will provide a planner in both PDF and Google Doc form.  It is very important that you have this planner accessible before class starts.  There will be several opportunities to record your research and reflections during the course of the class.  Paper and something to write is also something that you will need for this class.

We will be discussing the last two years of high school which are a time of stress and change.  Since this class is designed to support kids with ADHD and other learning differences, we will also be discussing self advocacy which may include discussions about IEPs, 504 plans, and accommodations for some students.
Students will use their individual school and potential college sites to do research and determine deadlines.  They may also consult the website of potential testing websites like the College Board.  A Google Doc Template will be shared in class.
