Intermediate Level
I utilize the see-say-do method of teaching as often as possible because it offers addresses main learning modalities - visual, auditory, applied. I will spend a few minutes at the beginning of class getting to know everyone and request that they have a slide to work on as we conduct our learning. I will spend time showing them the each rule, we will repeat the rule to eachother and then the students will have time to practice implementing the rule on their slide. We will interact a lot and they will get to do work with my guidance and presence so they can go about their way implementing this cleaner, more polished and organized way of putting together slideshows for presentations. In other classes, I will host opportunities for presentation/public speaking preparation as a group or in one-on-one. I am also available for one-on-one slideshow presentation review.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to implement 6 rules for clearer slideshows by practicing them on their own slides during class

Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Diosa Adams. I am passionate about young people and fell in love with Middle School students in my second year of undergrad, tutoring 7th graders in Math at a Title I middle school. There I learned so much of the “stuff” blocking student learning was not numbers but life circumstances, boredom, apathy, caused by lack of connection to the material or academics to life goals. I took that inspiration to my career and launched a program for middle school students on the path to become the first in their families to graduate from college. There, I led big kids (high school and college students) in teaching middle school students, and created a culture of inspiration and big dreams that led to leaps and bounds in learning!
As I have moved through life, my career, and now parenthood, I have expanded my experiences with kids from pre-k - 12th grade and beyond. I love working with youth - finding what they are interested in and seeing what they have yet to learn. My approach in programs, the classroom, and my home, is always student-centered and accountable. We will set goals and skill-build towards them as we are all teachable.
Here in Outschool I want to work with your kids on public speaking, communication, conflict resolution, and just growing their emotional intelligence, sense of wonder, and inspired action towards tangible goals. Please let me know how I can be of best service to you and your little or big kids!
