US Grade 3 - 6
It is possible for a reader to read every word on the page, but have no idea what they read! Does your child struggle with: * Understanding what is read? * Answering even the simplest comprehension questions? Is decoding and sounding out words a strength, but comprehension is a weakness? Visualize Verbalize is a targeted reading intervention for comprehension that was designed by Lindamood Bell. Children who have difficulty creating mental images when they read often have a weakness in reading comprehension, oral language comprehension, and may even struggle with verbal skills, and critical thinking.
Learning Goals
Students will learn:
* How to apply their verbal language skills to illustrations in order to practice their visualizing skills.
* How to attach an image in their mind to verbal language in order to practice their skills in describing an image.
* How to create a mental image for written sentences and paragraphs in order to comprehend the written word and answer comprehension questions.
