Class Experience

During each meeting learners will create a unique art piece that inspires emotional well-being and a positive mindset.   We will discuss what mindfulness means and then learners will have mindful art time. This class is a space for being mindfully creative and therefore feeling a positive emotion in response to the creativity.  Scientific evidence has shown that participating in art lowers stress and helps us increase feel-good emotions as referenced in sources.

Please note:
We will not be talking about emotions during this class. The purpose of this class is to have mindful creative time.

Each class will look like this:
- 3 minutes of introductions
- 3 minutes of art activity and mindfulness explanation
- 20 minutes of creating their art piece
- 5 minutes, in the end, to share their creations if they choose.  
Each meeting they will need art paper, pencils, and/or markers.
The art activity for each day will be prompted, but they will make it in their own individual style.

Lesson 1:
Heart Map Collage
 I this lesson, students will create a heart collage of who they are.

Energy Tree of Strength
 In this lesson, students will draw a tree with words of strength.

Lesson 3:
Mindful hands
 In this lesson, students will trace their hand and inside draw symbols and write words that inspire positivity.

Lesson 4:
Self-Care Soup
 In this lesson, students will draw a bowl of soup and add ingredients of all those activities they need to do for self-care.
