Welcome! This course is for all students - neurotypical and neurodivergent. This emotional intelligence program covers social skills, emotional awareness, and character building to enhance relationships and communication through weekly topics. Students will learn a variety of skills that will help them develop self-awareness, improve social interaction, learn stress management, integrate critical thinking skills, and strengthen friendships. Certain concepts are based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) skills and positive psychology. ~ Class Experience ~ Keynote is utilized to present the educational content for the social-emotional skill topic of the week. This course is instructional and discussion-based. Student output is encouraged but not forced. Scenarios may be used to prompt critical thinking and engagement, however, there is no role-playing. I respectfully ask that cameras be on so we can work on social-emotional skills most effectively. ~ Class Format ~ Greetings & check-in SEL topic content Extend & discuss You may join at any time. Welcome! I'm Julie & delighted you stopped by.
I have 20 years of experience working with children & adults of all ages in various capacities of the helping profession, including mental health, education, humanities & social service fields. Presently, I divide my love for helping others between counseling clients in private practice, coaching clients online @ The Sacred, and leading SEL groups for teens here at Outschool. When not helping others, you will find me recharging as I spend time with my family and friends.
