Welcome! This class is for neurotypical and neurodivergent students. The American Psychological Association (APA) defines social skills as a set of learned abilities that enable an individual to interact competently and appropriately in a given social context. The most commonly identified social skills in Western cultures include assertiveness, coping, communication, friendship-making, interpersonal, problem-solving, and the ability to regulate one’s cognitions, feelings, and behavior. This emotional intelligence program covers social skills, emotional awareness, and character building to enhance relationships and communication through weekly topics. Students will learn a variety of skills that will help them develop self-awareness, improve social interaction, learn stress management, integrate critical thinking skills, and strengthen friendships. ~ Class Experience: Keynote is utilized to present the content on the social-emotional skill topic of the week. Educational coaching encourages student output and engagement. ~ Class Format: Greetings & weekly check-In Lesson content Extend & discuss throughout the lesson. You may join at any time. In each class, we cover a separate topic, so your student will not be behind. Below are the social-emotional skills covered in this class, in order. ~ Weekly Topics ~ Self-Esteem Coping Skills & Stress Management Confidence Communication Self-Awareness Strengths & Weaknesses Social Awareness Peer Pressure Problem-Solving Self-Care Mindfulness Social Anxiety Emotional Management Friendships Listening Skills Getting Along with Others ------------------ Week of April 15th Positive Mindset Empathetic Connection Kindness Boundaries Each session is recorded, so if you miss a class, you can watch the playback at your convenience to view the weekly content. Pausing does not allow access to that week's recording.
