US Grade 7 - 8
Grammar at the sentence level is essential to effective writing in all academic subjects. In this interactive class, students will learn the components of four sentence types: simple, complex, compound, and complex-compound through interactive lecture. Students will write and share examples of each type. I will provide immediate constructive feedback to help students achieve correct grammar and syntax. The lesson will also include application of the four sentence types as a means of preventing fragments and run-ons. The class will be a mix of instruction, demonstration, student practice, and discussion.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their writing at the sentence level by learning to categorize sentences as simple, complex, compound, or complex-compound. They will learn to use these sentence types to identify, correct, or prevent fragments and run-ons.
