Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
Beginner - Intermediate Level
Learners will meet three times in one week to practice their English speaking, reading, and comprehension skills. We will address setting, characters, conflict, and resolution in stories. We will learn new vocabulary words, prefixes, and suffixes.

In each session, I will read to the learners and I will call on learners to read aloud as well. As they read, we will learn correct pronunciation and practice correct intonation and pacing to sound natural in English. My goal is for students to feel confident in their ability to read aloud in front of others. To this end, I will encourage students and offer kind constructive feedback and opportunities to apply the feedback.

I will ask students to choose words and images to discuss so they are actively engaged with the material and with one another. My goal is full engagement and active participation for and from all learners.

After reading, we will play a Kahoot! game based on the session's book. Questions will assess comprehension of the vocabulary and plot of the story.

Meeting One: Me and My Dragon: Christmas Spirit and One Wild Christmas
