In this class, learners will read aloud define new words examine sentence structure discuss the elements of plot including setting, characters, rising action, conflict, and resolution discuss suspense identify rhyme and rhythm in poetry identify puns, metaphors, and simile in poems name the tone and theme in a written work evaluate a work based on opinion and critical judgment My teaching style calls on the learners to be interactive and participative. I want to hear their voices, ideas, and answers 80% of the time, while I offer corrections, direct instruction, and use Socratic method 20% of the time. The goal is to encourage students to engage with one another, the material, and with me. Example schedule of a class meeting: Brief introductions I will introduce the reading for the day and project the reading onto the screen in our Outschool Zoom classroom. Parental Guidance
We will use Epic! for readings and Kahoot! for games. I will share the reading on the screen and a link will be provided to each Kahoot! game. Students do not need to log in with their identifying information.
