Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 5
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this class, learners will

read aloud
define new words
examine sentence structure
discuss the elements of plot including setting, characters, rising action, conflict, and resolution
discuss suspense
identify rhyme and rhythm in poetry
identify puns, metaphors, and simile in poems
name the tone and theme in a written work
evaluate a work based on opinion and critical judgment

My teaching style calls on the learners to be interactive and participative. I want to hear their voices, ideas, and answers 80% of the time, while I offer corrections, direct instruction, and use Socratic method 20% of the time. The goal is to encourage students to engage with one another, the material, and with me.
