US Grade 3 - 5
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this course, students will:

learn new vocabulary, including roots, prefixes, and suffixes, collocations and phrasal verbs
practice reading skills
build comprehension skills
discuss topics related to skyscrapers
practice pronunciation and conversation skills

Typical class structure:
brief student introductions
introduction to the day's book
one student reads aloud
teacher asks about words from the reading
students define the words independently or with help
teacher points out prefixes, suffixes, roots, literary devices including metaphors, alliteration and parallel structure, and/or noteworthy sentence structures
another student reads aloud
new words are discussed, defined, used in sentences
teacher asks comprehension questions
students answer and discuss

My teaching style is interactive, so I engage fully with the students. I find the Socratic method encourages discussion, participation, and active learning.
