Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this course, students will: learn new vocabulary, including roots, prefixes, and suffixes, collocations and phrasal verbs practice reading skills build comprehension skills discuss topics related to skyscrapers practice pronunciation and conversation skills Typical class structure: brief student introductions introduction to the day's book one student reads aloud teacher asks about words from the reading students define the words independently or with help teacher points out prefixes, suffixes, roots, literary devices including metaphors, alliteration and parallel structure, and/or noteworthy sentence structures another student reads aloud new words are discussed, defined, used in sentences teacher asks comprehension questions students answer and discuss My teaching style is interactive, so I engage fully with the students. I find the Socratic method encourages discussion, participation, and active learning.
