Description

Class Experience

Students will build their English vocabulary in the areas of science, art, geography, history, and culture. They will improve their speaking skills and grow more confident using English when reading, answering questions, and discussing a variety of topics including space, weather, sea animals, jungle animals, natural disasters, human-made wonders, cultures around the world. 

Week of March 12: How the Earth was formed
Week of March 19: Lizards
Week of March 26: Blizzards
Week of April 2: Mummies


Week One August 14: Sea turtles and the ocean 
Week Two August  21: The Pyramids and Egypt
Week Three August 29: Volcanoes 
Week Four September 4: Japan 
Week Five September 11: Earth's Moon 
Week Six September 18: Extreme Records in Nature 
Week Five September 25: Wild Cats
Week Six October 2: Spain
Week Seven October 9: Pandas
Week Eight October 16: Giraffes 
Week Nine: Titanic
Week Ten: Cleopatra
Week Eleven: Caterpillar to Butterfly
Week Twelve: Weird Sea Creatures
Week Thirteen: Whales

I have been teaching English for 20 years and have a BA in English literature, an MA in Technical Writing, and a Ph.D. in English: Texts and Technology. I work with students from 4 to 70+ who want to speak confidently in school, in the office, or with friends. 
Practice the words and phrases used in class during the week. The more you use the new vocabulary, the more likely it is to become a permanent part of your long-term memory. 
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
All articles and materials will be provided in class
