Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Have you ever seen a dog display a behavior and wondered what it means? Have you seen a dog kick his feet up behind him? Chase his tail? This class that meets three times will discuss different dog behaviors, body language, and learn what they can mean as related to various dog breeds.

We will observe dog behavior and body language through pictures and video clips. We will discuss what we see and our ideas why the dog might be doing these things. From my experience as a dog trainer, I will explain why a dog performs these behaviors. We will also discuss breeds of dogs and their original purpose and the influence that has in dog behavior. We will learn how a dog's body language can tell us alot about how they are feeling.

The topic of each meeting is as follows:

First class meeting: Body language of a dog and what it means.
Second class meeting: Dog behaviors and why they do those things.
Third class meeting: Dog breeds, their original purpose, and how that relates to behavior.

Class will be run in a discussion format with some lecture. Pictures and video clips will be used. Participation is encouraged, but not required. You do not need to own a dog to be in class, just a desire to learn more about them.

Dogs and animals have been my passion for as long as I can remember. I train dogs professionally in obedience, agility, and tricks. I also work in a canine rehab center doing hydrotherapy. My personal dogs hold titles in agility, obedience, rally, nosework and trick training in different organizations. I have experience in dock diving, barn hunt, and lure coursing. I currently am a judge in training. Looking forward to my first trial in AKC FastCat.
