Does your learner want to teach their dog fun tricks in order to apply for the AKC Novice Trick Training Title? Maybe, your learner just wants to have fun teaching their old dog new tricks? In this individual 1 on 1 dog training, children will learn how to instruct their dog to do various tricks. Tricks can include paw, shake a paw, high five, roll over, play dead, paws up, get in and stay in a box, spin and twirl, crawl like a snake or ring a bell. Teacher will model the trick using a demonstration dog. Students will take turns practicing the trick with their dog. Every week, we will learn two tricks. Teacher will model the tricks using a demonstration dog. Then the students will practice the tricks with their dogs. Basic commands such as "Sit" and "Down" will be taught if needed in order to prepare for tricks. Each following week, we will review the tricks.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Dogs are unpredictable and may take longer to learn commands or tricks than expected. Some dogs may not be able to do certain tricks due to age or size. Space is needed to train dogs and not all dogs will be able to do every trick. Dogs are different from humans — A child may need to be reminded that dogs have a different way of communicating. It is recommended that you have the puppy or new dog at least 3 weeks before enrolling in a class.
Supply List
Students will need a dog, leash, treats, clicker. Bell, hula hoop platform, or box lid and boxes will be needed to perform tricks. Dogs should be able to sit and it is recommended that puppies are at least 5 months old.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Teacher is a Certified Dog Trainer (CDT-C), AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator. Her dog Roxy holds the AKC Title of Notice Trick Training. An important note is that not all dogs can learn tricks at the same pace and some tricks are not recommended for older or arthritic dogs. Also, some breeds can learn tricks faster and easier than others.
