Unbox & Review- Develop Your Presenting Skills by Creating Youtube Videos

Learners can develop their public speaking, and presenting skills, in a fun way by 'unboxing' a different surprise item for the class each week. While developing their speaking confidence, practice, fluency, vocabulary choice, and self-expression in a supportive environment. 

Each class will follow a clear structure which learners will grow to be able to feel comfortable and familiar with. Allowing them to focus on building their skills and confidence, and trying out the new techniques Mrs. T will share each week.

Classes will start with everyone having a go at a fun tongue twister, to get everyone warmed up. Perfection isn't the goal here! but instead to exercise important parts of the mouth to improve our overall articulation, clarity, and pronunciation.

Next, Mrs. T will take the class through how to start their pretend unboxing video in an engaging and interesting way, by using a simple script framework (presented via a screen share to create a teleprompter experience, just like real presenters use). Sharing different techniques for exactly how to do this, like how to use vocal color, or hooks for example. 
Next, she will demo how to show and describe the outside packaging/box/bag for the unboxing, bringing in different techniques, like using lots of adjectives, superlatives, alliteration, or how to use sense observation. 

Then, how to unbox the item itself. Sharing techniques for how to do this, like the use of emphatic pauses, the most effective way to describe the features, and the use of facial expressions. 

Finally, how to share a story testimonial with techniques like using expression and emotive language, and lastly how to create an engaging sign-off for their pretend YouTube unboxing video.

PLEASE NOTE that learners DO NOT need to bring along a NEW or UNUSED item to 'unbox' in class each week, but instead this is like grown up 'show and tell' for the modern world. Each week there will be a different theme, so they can choose any safe, school-appropriate thing they want to share, that they feel fits the theme and can 'hide' it in any box/bag/outside packaging that does not reveal what is inside.*EAL, ESL, shy, and neuro-diverse learners are very welcome.

As a fully qualified, experienced Confident Communications Coach, Speech & Drama Tutor, Teacher (BAPA, PGCE), Professional Actor, and Director, who has also worked as many types of Presenter and used many of these techniques to build her own confidence and develop her use of voice and non-verbal presentation, Mrs. T can give on the spot tips, and ideas where needed. Developing and adapting the class content live in class, or as learners' skills and needs develop week to week.

We will explore different themes each week such as:
Week of April 7- Something useful for a vacation,
Week of April 14- Something to do with food or eating,
Week of April 21- Something linked to a hobby or interest,
Week of April 28- Something very small/tiny/minimal,
Week of May 5- Something quite big,
Week of May 12- Something to do with sports or fitness,

As learners develop their skills and confidence week to week they can build in doing homework. Properly researching their item so then they can include extra areas like facts, statistics, pros and cons etc in their unboxing experience.

All building great practice for future presentations, and competitions, taking part in discussions, learning to express themselves more eloquently, and for interviews.
