In this 12 Week class learners with some experience in Public Speaking will advance in their knowledge of writing, and presenting creative speeches

What's included

12 live meetings
11 in-class hours
Homework
4+ hours per week. Learners will need to write and practice a 10 minute speech each week which they will present in class the following week
Grading
Parents will be sent percentages each week for speeches, broken down by area, based on what has been covered so far in the class and averaged for the overall percentage. Along with this will be overall feedback on the speech.

Class Experience

Intermediate Level
In this class learners will improve their public speaking skills and be able to choose from a variety of topics and facts to use in their speech, as well improving their public speaking skills. In between classes each week they will write part of or an entire speech, which they should send to the teacher before the next week's class, they will then present in the next week's class.

Week 1: Introductions
Parts of a speech, 5 Ps of introductions, memorized speeches
Homework: Write and prepare an introduction

Week 2: Points
Present Introduction
4 Cs of Points, Manuscript speeches
Homework: Write and prepare 2 to 5 points

Week 3: Conclusions

3 Ss of Conclusions, Extemporaneous speeches
Homework: Write and prepare conclusion

Week 4: Topical Speeches
Present Conclusion
Topical Speeches, Inflection and Authenticity
Homework: Write and prepare a Topical Speech

Week 5: Informative Speeches

Week 6: Chronological Speeches

Pre-Requisites
Learners should have some experience in writing speeches and/or public speaking It is recommended that they take "Beginner Public Speaking" before, but not required

I am a former Home School student who has never stopped learning! I love history and telling stories verbally and through writing, and I want to share that passion with others. I believe the statement is true: “Those who don’t learn from History are doomed to repeat it.” We need to learn from the past to shape our own futures and the world in general. I believe the best way to learn about history is to learn about the people who lived through it and what they experienced and tell their stories. I love telling stories through writing and enjoy public speaking, so storytelling is a natural combination of the two.

I have 4 years of teaching experience in a variety of places from teaching/coaching drama and dance for homeschoolers in a group setting, to homeschooling two young children for a few months, to teaching English as Second Language (ESL) to college students, to teaching Arts and Crafts at a Summer Camp. I am currently a ESL teacher online with VIPKid.  I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Communication from Stevenson University. 

I love to travel both in the US and internationally. I’ve spent time in almost every state on the East Coast and driven through the rest. I’ve visited seven different countries and lived in Asia for 17 months.
