Beginner Level
Third grade has a reputation for being really tough! The rise from second grade to third is enormous! In addition, many states test heavily in third grade, and some even use it as a retention year. Keep your student motivated through this summer with my video game themed class! Students will have so much fun reading the video game materials that they won’t even realize how much they are learning! Throughout the summer, I have divided up the topics of Reading Informational Text, Reading Literary Text, and Vocabulary Reinforcement. These are the important skills expected in third grade. If your child can enter third grade strong, they will feel more confident and learn more effectively! The materials are lexiled for early, mid and late third grade levels. My goal is ensuring that students are able to access late third grade material before walking through that door in the fall. Give your child a leg-up with Mrs. Legg’s Reading course!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Florida Teaching Certificate in Special Education
For the last 30 years, my life had centered around education. I earned my degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Specific Learning Disabilities. My own children were diagnosed with dyslexia, so I became a Master Reading Teacher. My youngest also had Asperger's Syndrome, Sensory Integration issues, and multiple other autoimmune and health issues. I have taught in public, charter, and private schools in an attempt to find appropriate services for my own child. I am an expert in dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, anxiety, ASD, and a multitude of other issues that can negatively impact learning. I believe that education should be clinical, or designed specific to the needs of your child. I also believe that it must be compassionate, focusing on the needs of the whole child. Therefore, I will offer classes in reading, reading remediation, writing, creative writing, and coping with anxiety and ADHD for children and adults of all levels.
Fun facts about me: I love to play acoustic guitar! I live in Florida near the beaches and love to swim and scuba dive! My children are grown and out of the house, so I have the time to teach more, in addition to enjoying life! I hope that if you feel I can be a help to you and your family, that you will reach out and give it a chance!
Thanks so much!
