A unique health and wellness class for 12-15 year olds. In this class learners will be utilizing many learning styles to understand what is stress and how to identify their own individual day to day stressors.
The focus of the class is to teach learners between 12-15 year olds what is stress and how they can identify what their specific stressors are. A brief definition of stress will be explained and reviewed. Then, the learners will be asked to use the following supplies that they must prepare to have prior to class: 2 sheets of construction paper, 1 age appropriate magazine, glue and safe scissors that they can use. The physical exercise portion of the class is introduced and incorporated because as a graduate with a Bachelor’s in Psychology I extensively studied the whole body approach of learning and living to full incapsulate the information or experience a person is dealing with. I decided to bring my 20 years of professional dance technical training to provide a basis of physical warm-up, stretches and beginner strength training.
Learners will be asked to use the following supplies they must prepare to have prior to class: 2 sheets of construction paper, 1 age appropriate magazine, glue and safe scissors for use. Also, an open workout space, socks, and closed toe sneakers and comfortable clothes to do exercise in.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Please be advised that the second half of title of this class states “Tik Tok With Stress” because the class is conducted to have the learners teeter between conceptualization and connection with stress and what are the stressors in their individual day to day challenges. However, no social media will be used in the online classroom environment. As well, an open workout area along with socks, sneakers and comfortable clothes for exercise are required. High level of consideration is taken to conduct the physical exercise with a beginner state of mind due to variety of levels of the learners. In addition, this class is not meant to be a replacement for physical exercise it was meant to compliment a health, arts, PE and dance collaboration of educating the learners.
