1:1 Life Coaching for Stress

In this class, students receive 1:1 coaching to gain more understanding about and develop more peace with the daily stress in their lives. Through mindfulness skills and thought-watching, we'll create a personalized management plan.

Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 12
Weekly one-on-one classes will follow this general format:

*Quick check in or introduction
*POP Check (a way of checking in with yourself to see how you're feeling, acknowledging that all feelings are okay, and practicing a quick calming strategy)
* Sharing a recent WIN
* Short instruction on a topic related to stress
* Teaching a mindfulness strategy which can be implemented during the upcoming week to lower stress as issues come up during the week

The weekly topics covered include:

The difference between worry, stress, and anxiety - recognizing how they affect emotions, thoughts, and bodies

Where stress comes from - categorizing sources of stress; the differences between the stressors we can and cannot control

How stress can help you grow - reframing stress as opportunities for growth
 
Strategies for managing stress - using a variety of breathing strategies and other mindfulness techniques for grounding and coming to the present moment

Changing strategies and getting help - deciding when outside help is needed; identifying people who can help when stress becomes unmanageable

Creating a plan for managing stress

I have been an Elementary classroom teacher for 29 years. I have most recently been teaching Social Emotional Learning (SEL) to students in Kindergarten through 6th grade, and I hold a Social Emotional Learning Certification. I am also a Certified Professional Life Coach and a Mindfulness Coach. I have created a "Mindful Kids" program for teachers with comprehensive lesson plans they can use in their own classroom. I love teaching children tools and strategies they can use to feel better and calm, now and for the rest of their lives.
