Syllabus
4 Lessons
over 1 WeekLesson 1:
Big hand, little hand
This lesson helps students identify the two hands on a clock. They will learn how to draw a clock, including where all 12 numbers are located. They will make observations about how the little hand and big hand move around the clock. Students will practice counting to 12, learn where the little hand sits at the start of every hour, and practice reading different hours in different play scenarios.

Lesson 2:
What's the hour?
Students will be introduced to the way the BIG HAND shows us the current hour, and how it moves beyond numbers the further past the hour we go. Students will practice reading the big hand at various positions around the clock, and identify whether it is exactly on the hour or a little past. They will learn the phrases "Half Past" "Quarter Past" and "Quarter Till" to help them track minutes.

Lesson 3:
What's the minute?
Students will practice counting by 5s and learn how each number correlates with a number of minutes in an hour. They will practice counting by 5s as they go around the clock. Then students will begin to identify different hours and minutes based on the location of the big and little hand in various play scenarios.

Learning Needs
I have experience working in a variety of settings, including with students on the ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, and dysgraphia spectrum. I can differentiate and constantly adjust my teaching to meet the needs of every learner who is in my class
Pre-Requisites
Students should be able to count to 12. It is helpful if they can count to 60 (although we will practice together, too!) It can be helpful if they understand the idea of skip counting No previous experience with analog clocks is necessary.
Supply List
It is extremely helpful for students to have a manipulative learning clock at home to practice telling time with. Here are some of my favorite learning clocks: For a hands on clock: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00000JH41/ref=sspa_dk_detail_3?pd_rd_i=B00000JH41&pd_rd_w=NyQUK&content-id=amzn1.sym.8c2f9165-8e93-42a1-8313-73d3809141a2&pf_rd_p=8c2f9165-8e93-42a1-8313-73d3809141a2&pf_rd_r=2D9E0Z9K5FJ5T3ZPYK2V&pd_rd_wg=SS6cU&pd_rd_r=973f4a12-8335-46f6-bda2-f1f6b2e32881&s=industrial&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWw&th=1 For an online manipulative: https://toytheater.com/clock/ For a printable manipulative (downside is that minute hand will not automatically rotate with hour hand): https://www.etsy.com/listing/532023200/make-your-own-clock-printable-for-kids?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_ps-e-toys_and_games&utm_custom1=_k_CjwKCAiAqrG9BhAVEiwAaPu5zgqW1XLCO6zNuNV2xOAxE1TJBPxbeUrBMlhTbJdjeQiEcpDw5JyOfBoCd1IQAvD_BwE_k_&utm_content=go_21802432951_169018386215_716715245216_pla-314535279060_c__532023200_540361100&utm_custom2=21802432951&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAqrG9BhAVEiwAaPu5zgqW1XLCO6zNuNV2xOAxE1TJBPxbeUrBMlhTbJdjeQiEcpDw5JyOfBoCd1IQAvD_BwE
