Statistics is an important field of math that is used to analyze, interpret, and predict outcomes from data. Descriptive statistics will teach you the basic concepts used to describe data. This course is a good preparation course for students who will be taking high school and college level stats courses. Statistics can be useful for two purposes: 1) to provide basic information about variables in a dataset and 2) to highlight potential relationships between variables. Course Structure: Day 1: the difference between Descriptive and Inferential statistics, central tendency, measures of variability, measures of dispersion Day 2: skewness, kurtosis, mean, median, mode, variance,, Day 3: Using Excel for statistics, intro to computer based statistics calculators, range, standard deviation, variance, normal distribution Day 4: Probability and Probability Events: Favorable Events, Simple Events, Compound Events, Equally Likely Events Day 5: Probability Events: Collectively Exhaustive Events, Mutually Exclusive Events, Independent Events. Dependent Events, Complementary Events
