This class will work on spelling through games. Each week there will be a different game and the learners will have a chance to discuss the spelling rules as they play. The class will begin by discussing the rules of the games. This part will take 1-2 minutes at the most since the games will be quick and simple. Then we will spend the next 15 minutes or so playing the game. The last 1-2 minutes will be discussing the spelling rules that were part of the words. The learners will not need to study any spelling words before class since the games will be guessing the word games. As we guess the letters and the words the class will discuss the rules to make educated guesses of the next letters or the word. So the leaners can apply and extend their knowledge of the spelling rules. The learners also do not need to know all the spelling rules as we will discuss them as we go. Examples of some spelling rules: i before e, Except After c. Adding Suffixes to Words that End in Y. The Silent E. Double Consonants. Plural Suffixes. Parental Guidance
There maybe times that we use Kahoot or Nearpod for the games. The links and codes for the games will be posted in the classroom before class and in the chat during class. No account is needed for Kahoot and Nearpod.
Other games will be screenshared through the zoom whiteboard or Google Slides.
Supply List
The learners will not need any materials but they could bring paper/pencil, chalkboard/chalk, etc to better help them learn.

Hello! My name is Kellie. I have over 15 years of experience teaching students in a variety of settings.
I have continued to expand my teaching experience and explore new areas of interest. I have taught students of various ages and backgrounds, both in traditional classroom settings and online platforms.
I strive to create engaging and interactive lessons that cater to each student's unique learning style, fostering their confidence and love for learning.
In terms of my qualifications, I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood and a Reading Endorsement. My passion lies in teaching foundational skills, particularly in reading. I firmly believe that every student has the potential to learn, but it's important to recognize and accommodate their individual learning needs and pace. In my classes, I provide multiple approaches to learning a concept, ensuring that each student has the opportunity to grasp it in a way that resonates with them.
Beyond my teaching experience, I have a diverse background in agriculture and farming. My husband and I are actively involved in raising quarter horses for working cow horse competitions. I find joy in merging my love for agriculture with my teaching endeavors, incorporating elements of farm life and nature into my lessons. It's a unique way to engage students and broaden their understanding of the world around them.
