This course is designed for learner in grades 4-8 who read more fluently than they spell [average to above readers but weak spellers], learners who are good to better readers but just can't seem to spell words correctly. This course is designed to help an already average or above reader become a better speller in a fun, non traditional way. Enroll today and explore the English language, discover new words, their history, origin and meaning. Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Education from Indiana University
I am a retired public school Principal who has taught and written curriculum for grades K-12 in all subject areas. I have taught learners from grades K-12, Special needs learners, adults, ESL learners from several countries it seems for most of my life. Teaching children is what I love to do! And teaching learners of all ages to read, write and spell is foundational to success and is my passion. I personally love spelling and enjoyed spelling competitions since I was a little girl. Trust me, I practiced my spelling list / words and made sure I got an A+ on each test. So when faced with competition, I was ready!
I love to work with children in all subject area [reading, writing, science, cooking to name a few] but teaching them to read, write and spell are my favorite. Seeing the "lights" come on as a learner "gets it," understands the spelling rule and WHY words are spelled as they are is what I love most and love being a part of that experience is so very gratifying.
I am very happy to be teaching on the Outschool platform and look forward to my passion for reading, writing and spelling, in particular, rubbing off on your learner.
