Class Experience
US Grade Kindergarten
In this class we will work on building our reading and math skills. Class includes standards based, grade level appropriate practice of literacy and math skills. Kindergarten: Learners practice phonics and phonemic awareness, read and write CVC words and numbers, practice sight words, play reading and math games, count, add and subtract objects up to 10 through story problems, and work on number sense. First grade: Learners practice phonics by reading and writing CVC, CVCE, and complex words and sentences. They practice sight words and read stories to practice reading fluency and comprehension. Math focuses on connecting the concrete learning (counting with objects) with the abstract symbols of number sentences. We practice skip counting and adding and subtracting numbers up to 20. Second Grade: We practice reading fluency and comprehension strategies, identifying text features and text evidence. We create and write our own sentences and stories. We practice adding and subtracting in double digits and connect the standard math algorithms to concrete terms to foster understanding. Third Grade: Reading: We practice better understanding of literature and writing by comparing and contrasting, identifying cause and effect, Identifying themes, paragraph writing, such as opinion, narrative, persuasive. Math: We strengthen needed skills as identified by the learner, parent, and teacher. We connect to the learning through participation. Come join me for fun learning in a caring atmosphere!

* One-On-One Reading Tutoring/Just for You! K/1st/ 2nd/ 3rd Grade- (Ongoing- choose 1× or 2× a week ) and choose 25 minute or 45 minute sessions.

* Just For You ESL - One-on-one class for English language learners. (Ongoing - choose 1× or 2× a week).
*Kindergarten Check In- 1:1 practice of Letters/ Phonics/ Writing learners' first name (one time class).
* Kindergarten Learning Circles - Fun reading, math and social time (offered as both a one-time class and a 1×week ongoing class). I teach 1-2 new letters/sounds each week in both formats.
