Come join us for Second grade Learning Circle! This small-group class meets once a week to learn and socialize, and is a great mental warm-up or review for your Second Grade learner. This is designed to be a convenient, low-prep class. Students just need to bring something to write on and something to write with. Each class will strengthen academic and social skills through the topics listed in the weekly outline. Learners will grow through participation such as reading, writing, observing, and sharing their thoughts. I look forward to meeting your learner in a fun and welcoming environment! **Week 1: Oct. 13-19 Reading: Long Vowel review. Using magic "e" to make long vowels/ Read and write CVC and CVCE words, sight word practice / Story reading and comprehension. Math: Addition and subtraction within 20 -story problems (no regrouping) **Week 2: Oct. 20-26 Reading: Letter teams [sh] of shark and [ar] of car. Read and write CVCE and complex words using target phonics / Sight word practice/ Story reading and comprehension. Math: Addition and subtraction within 20 -story problems (no regrouping) **Week 3: Oct. 27 -Nov. 2 Reading: Letter teams [tr] of tree and [ee] of feet. Read and write CVCE and complex words using target phonics/ Story reading and comprehension. Math: Understanding place value and drawing place value models. Practice skip counting by 5's and 10's **Week 4: Nov. 3-9 Reading: Letter teams [th] of thumb and [wh] of whale. Read and write CVCE and complex words using target phonics/ Story reading and comprehension. Math: Drawing place value models to solve addition and subtraction problems up to 50. Doubles fluency Practice skip counting by 5's and 10's **Week 5: Nov. 10-16 Reading: Letter teams [ch] of chicken and [ea] of eat. Read and write CVCE and complex words using target phonics/ Story reading and comprehension. Math: Drawing a domino model to solve for an unknown change in addition or subtraction. Facts up to 20 fluency **Week 6: Nov. 17-23 Letter teams [ay] of play. Read and write complex words using target phonics/ Story reading and comprehension. Math: Combining a place value model with a domino model to solve for an unknown change in addition or subtraction up to 50. **Week 7 : Nov. 24-30 No classes
Other Details
Pre-Requisites
Learners should be able to read CVC (such as dog, cat, pig, etc.) words and sight words in sentences fluently and independently. They should have a good knowledge of all letter sounds to sound out more complex words.

* Kindergarten Learning Circle - Fun reading, math and social time (offered as both a one-time class and a 1×week ongoing class). I teach 1-2 new letters/sounds each week in both formats.
* Just For You K-2nd Reading Tutoring - One -on-one class for beginning readers (Ongoing- choose 1× or 2× a week)
* Just For You ESL - One-on-one class for English language learners. (Ongoing - choose 1× or 2× a week).
* Number Bond Math classes- Various party-themed classes that introduce number bonds for addition and subtraction. (2 day class).
*Kindergarten Check In- 1:1 practice of Letters/ Phonics/ Writing learners first name (one time class).
* I Love Math! - Small group class ( 1-3 learners) -ongoing 1x per week class to practice kindergarten number sense, number writing, 2D and 3Dshapes, addition, subtraction, and much more.
My goals are to make classes fun and educational, and for every child to feel valued and empowered. I look forward to meeting your learner!
