Class Experience
US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
In this one-time, 1:1 class, learners can try out reading tutoring to see if it's a good fit for them. I will teach a shortened version of my "Just for you -Kindergarten/ First Grade Reading Tutoring" class so learners can see the kinds of fun activities we do while learning to read. Class includes phonics, sight words, and CVC words. Students listen for sounds (phonemic awareness), discern between phonic sounds, practice writing letters, write CVC words, and enjoy reading along with the teacher.

Hello, I'm Ms. Heather! I live near the mountains in Idaho and I love reading, gardening, and hiking. But most of all, I love teaching and helping learners grow their skills and confidence!

* Certified K-8 Teacher
* Bachelor Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies

* 3 years reading tutoring online for ages 4-10
* 2 years teaching ESL online
* 1 year teaching/assisting -1st grade
* 2 years supporting students in Kindergarten. (Standards-based small group and 1:1 teaching)
* 8 years supporting students in Special Education K-8
* 3 years homeschooling
* 20 years volunteering as a church youth leader
My Classes:
* One-On-One Reading Tutoring/Just for You! K/1st/ 2nd/ 3rd Grade- (Ongoing- choose 1× or 2× a week ) and choose 25 minute or 45 minute sessions.
*One -On-One Math and Reading Tutoring /Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd Grade : 1x or 2x a week 25 or 45 minute sessions
* Just For You ESL - One-on-one class for English language learners. (Ongoing - choose 1× or 2× a week).
*Kindergarten Check In- 1:1 practice of Letters/ Phonics/ Writing learners' first name (one time class).
* Kindergarten Learning Circles - Fun reading, math and social time (offered as both a one-time class and a 1×week ongoing class). I teach 1-2 new letters/sounds each week in both formats.
* First grade Learning Circle
*2nd Grade learning circle

One hour sessions: One -On-One Math and Reading Tutoring /Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd Grade
By request if I can get 3 or more learners:
I Love Math! - Small group class ( 1-4 learners) -ongoing 1x per week class to practice kindergarten number sense, number writing, 2D and 3Dshapes, addition, subtraction, and much more.
