Sewing Made Fun and Easy for Ages 8 to 12 Part One: Learning How to Sew With DC
In this 6 weeks class, students will learn about sustainable fashion and upcycling through various projects. They will complete 11 projects in total. They will also learn parts of the sewing machine & how to sew from finishing the projects.

1 hour per week. Students will need to design each project after class on their own. This is after doing the projects during class with step by step instructions. Students will show their finished products during the next class meet up.Class Experience
Welcome to this unique sewing class where students will learn about sustainable fashion and upcycling! In the days ahead, your child will be able to reclaim their clothes, revamp them and have a new purpose for them. Yes! Most of the projects will utilize your child's clothes from their very own closet or drawers. The other projects will require the purchase of fabric. We will take our time and learn step by step how to sew the various projects. **There must be at least 3 students signed up for the camp to take place** **I offer discounts for siblings taking the class together**
Learning Goals
Students will learn about sustainable fashion and how important it is for the environment. Students will have fun transforming their clothes into other items. Students will learn how to sew and make simple products that they can use on a daily basis.

Introduction to sewing and upcycling. Go over safety using a sewing machine

Other Details
Parental Guidance
Please be near your child since students will be using a sewing machine, scissors, and sewing pins. Make sure students are practicing safety measures while in class.
Supply List
Four used clean t-shirts (please don't buy new shirts); used clean towel/hand towel; sewing machine; seam ripper; white thread; black thread; scissors; sewing pins; measuring tape; measuring board; iron; ironing board; half inch elastic; safety pin, 2 1/2 yards of cotton fabric of your choice

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
