Class Experience

US Grade 2
In this ongoing second-grade class, students will join the teacher five days a week (Monday through Friday PST) for a well-rounded language arts curriculum in phonics, sight words and spelling, grammar, reading comprehension, & opinion paragraph writing while having a blast! Running a 30-week cycle (two semesters/one academic year) of curriculum running year-round, your student will have a full school year of English Language Arts at any time throughout the school year. This class is designed for second-graders who need a challenge, and for third-graders who need to get caught up.

Each class begins with a short warm-up to get students in the mindset to engage in class in a friendly and fun way, and then the topic of the day will be announced:

🌞Monday: Phonics
🌞Tuesday: Reading Comprehension
🌞Wednesday: Sight words and spelling
🌞Thursday: Opinion Paragraph Writing
🌞Friday: Grammar

Every lesson is fully engaging and students will be encouraged to participate through fun games, puzzles, and group votes without being put in the spotlight (but with plenty of opportunities for independent responses). Students will feel confident by the end of each lesson that they have mastered the day's concepts and goals.

If a student misses a class, there will be a recording available to view so your child won't miss any of the lessons. Ongoing classes are designed so that students may come and go as needed without missing anything - lessons do not build on one another.
