Class Experience

Children love Christmas. This class is designed for students to practice their listening and speaking skills. We will start with a story about Rudolph the red nose reindeer. We will discuss the story and focus on how Rudolph had something that made him special. We will talk about how practicing helps us to improve. Students will be encouraged to talk about something they are good at doing. Then children will have the opportunity to show an item or tell the class what they love about Christmas. At the end of class the students will make their own Rudolph.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Amy Kent. I have been teaching children for nearly my entire life. I love helping children grow to love learning about the world! I am excited to teach classes to young learners to get them ready for school. I enjoy working with children of all ages. I love to read and look forward to hosting a book club for young learners.
I graduated from Southern Utah University. I earned a double major in elementary education and special education. I have a minor in child development. I have over 20 years experience. My first job was teaching Kindergarten. I incorporated reading, math, and science into my lessons. Not only did they learn their ABC's, but they were introduced to a variety of topics including gravity and space! My next experience was organizing and teaching a neighborhood preschool. I have worked with the children K-12 as a substitute teacher and online. I also volunteered at the local elementary school to help students improve their reading skills. I teach ESL online and I have my TESOL certificate. I have taught children cooking, sewing, and craft classes in our local 4-H program. I enjoy working with all age groups. I just love teaching!
I live in a small town. I have a great husband and five wonderful children. I love teaching, reading, children, crafts and exploring. I like to hike, swim and see new places with my family. I look forward to teaching your child in the classroom.
