Let's leap like a lion! This class is a very fun and active class. This class focuses on large motor skills, the alphabet, and animal facts. Students will learn about two animals and two letters every week. The class starts with an animal show and tell. Students are welcome to share a favorite animal with the class. They can tell about it, show a picture, bring a stuffed animal, or a live pet. Next, I will introduce them to the letter we are learning. Then we will learn about an animal that starts with the letter. Students will learn a phrase with a letter, letter sound and an animal. I will show them how to write each letter. Please have a whiteboard and marker or paper and pencil for them to use. I will show several pictures while we discuss where the animal lives, what it eats, and other fun facts. We will then discuss different ways the animal might move. We will practice moving like the animal. Students will also practice listening skills. I am excited to have fun with your child! This ongoing class can be attended at anytime. Feel free to come and go as needed. Don't worry if you missed the first class. Letters can be taught in any order.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Amy Kent. I have been teaching children for nearly my entire life. I love helping children grow to love learning about the world! I am excited to teach classes to young learners to get them ready for school. I enjoy working with children of all ages. I love to read and look forward to hosting a book club for young learners.
I graduated from Southern Utah University. I earned a double major in elementary education and special education. I have a minor in child development. I have over 20 years experience. My first job was teaching Kindergarten. I incorporated reading, math, and science into my lessons. Not only did they learn their ABC's, but they were introduced to a variety of topics including gravity and space! My next experience was organizing and teaching a neighborhood preschool. I have worked with the children K-12 as a substitute teacher and online. I also volunteered at the local elementary school to help students improve their reading skills. I teach ESL online and I have my TESOL certificate. I have taught children cooking, sewing, and craft classes in our local 4-H program. I enjoy working with all age groups. I just love teaching!
I live in a small town. I have a great husband and five wonderful children. I love teaching, reading, children, crafts and exploring. I like to hike, swim and see new places with my family. I look forward to teaching your child in the classroom.
