US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
This class is a great introduction to shapes. I will begin with a story giving students a chance to practice their listening skills. The shape story is a great way to help children see the differences between four basic shapes. We will discuss how people are different just like shapes. Children will learn that differences are good. We will discuss that when people or shapes work together they can accomplish great things. After the story the children will get to practice naming and drawing four basic shapes: triangle, circle, rectangle, and square. Students will then use the included paper to color, cut, and glue shapes creating a picture. If you don't want to print the paper you can just draw the shapes on a plain piece of paper. Students will then get the chance to share their picture with the class. This will give them the opportunity to talk about colors and shapes.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Amy Kent. I have been teaching children for nearly my entire life. I love helping children grow to love learning about the world! I am excited to teach classes to young learners to get them ready for school. I enjoy working with children of all ages. I love to read and look forward to hosting a book club for young learners.
I graduated from Southern Utah University. I earned a double major in elementary education and special education. I have a minor in child development. I have over 20 years experience. My first job was teaching Kindergarten. I incorporated reading, math, and science into my lessons. Not only did they learn their ABC's, but they were introduced to a variety of topics including gravity and space! My next experience was organizing and teaching a neighborhood preschool. I have worked with the children K-12 as a substitute teacher and online. I also volunteered at the local elementary school to help students improve their reading skills. I teach ESL online and I have my TESOL certificate. I have taught children cooking, sewing, and craft classes in our local 4-H program. I enjoy working with all age groups. I just love teaching!
I live in a small town. I have a great husband and five wonderful children. I love teaching, reading, children, crafts and exploring. I like to hike, swim and see new places with my family. I look forward to teaching your child in the classroom.
