Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
In the beginning of the class, learners will be encouraged to share/discuss the Christmas traditions in their country and family (they are welcome to share pictures and/or videos from previous years' celebrations as well). After that we will talk about what Christmas celebration looks like in other countries (material taught will retain a secular view). This will be an interactive lecture in which learners will actively participate by asking/answering questions and expressing their opinion. We will use a Nearpod presentation for visuals (pictures and a few short video). As we learn about these traditions, learners will be encouraged to find the country in question on the map, Geography lovers' treat. At the end of the class, students will be encouraged to discuss what they found to be as most interesting tradition. Additionally, if there are enough learners in the class, we will play a fun Kahoot game (optional) to test the new information retention.

No previous knowledge is required for this class, however learners are expected to be able to read in order to be able to search for the countries on the map and play Kahoot!

If the learner enjoys this one-time class, please consider the on-going "Let's Travel the World Together" class, in which we explore a new country each week, learning geography and more.

Class presentation will include Nearpod. Link and code to join the presentation in Nearpod will be posted in the classroom before class scheduled time.

Note: This class will discuss holiday traditions around the world, but will not promote or advocate a particular religious worldview. The information presented is secular and does not address, promote or reference any religious aspects of the Holiday.
