US Grade 2 - 5
With over sixteen years of professional development, learning research-based teaching strategies to support learners with reading comprehension skills, I am very excited to be able to offer that experience and knowledge within this class. In this class, students will be introduced to four different top-priority reading comprehension skills . We will read through a non-fiction text closely. Then, we will practice the comprehension skill of the day as I model and guide students with strategies, skills, and clues to help them comprehend the text for each skill. The top-priority skills we will be focusing on in this four-day class are inquiry-based questioning, main idea with supporting details, summarizing with paraphrasing, and use text evidence to answer open-ended questions. Students will receive a document that I post in the classroom for each day that will match and support them in the class for each comprehension skill.
