Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 2
In this class, students will learn a top priority reading comprehension skill and record their understanding of the shared reading using their copy of the guided comprehension questions or interactive graphic organizer. We will end the class by answering an open-ended writing prompt that requires students to demonstrate their comprehension of the text by responding with a written response. Priority reading skills taught in this class include main idea, compare and contrast, story elements, inferencing, cause/effect and many more. Guided comprehension questions and organizers serve as an engaging note-taking aid to check for understanding. In addition, they promote high student engagement because students have something to focus on throughout the class.

Overall, students check and prove their comprehension of a text with guided reading questions and a written response.

I will post the PDF document of the organizer and questions prior to class.

***students should be able to write and read complete sentences in order to progress through this class.***
