Writing Prompts- All Genres (Expository, Opinion, Persuasive, Narrative)

In this class, I teach students how to clearly identify the purpose and intent of each writing prompt. I emphasize the importance of crafting strong responses with supporting details, evidence, and clear structure, including a strong introduction and conclusion. I also guide students on how to independently create those important writing components that are often listed on writing scoring guides for assessments. Each week, we focus on a specific writing genre, helping students master its unique criteria and meet the expectations for success in various writing tasks.  Below are a just a few of the many different prompts we will analyze and answer to.

CLASS OUTLINE
-Meet and greet
-Review the prompt and identify the genre type
-Discuss criteria needed for the prompt and genre
-Brainstorm thoughts with class
-Learners begin to draft their ideas
-Teacher provides ongoing feedback for learners that share out their writing ideas
-Share out final thoughts and ideas
-Students are encouraged to complete their writing after class with feedback provided from class
