This class is highly interactive, with plenty of opportunities for student participation. Each session starts with an engaging introduction to a specific reading comprehension strategy, presented through a PowerPoint. After introducing the skill, we’ll apply it by reading fiction and non-fiction stories together. Students will take turns reading aloud, followed by discussions and questions to strengthen understanding. As students read, we will assist them with pronunciation, fluency, and proper reading techniques. The reading material provided in class is on the 4th-grade reading level. However, we are here to assist all students with reading the passages as needed. 𝐈𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 - Practice reading aloud (fluency) Learn new vocabulary (context clues practice), Learn and practice reading comprehension strategies such as the main idea, details, inference skills, character analysis, author's purpose, and more.
