Get $5 off your first class! Use code: GREENFRST5 Boost your public speaking skills with confidence in this storytelling class! This course is for all learners, including ESL learners and those practicing for a SAYSA or similar competitions, like the Harmony Tree International Speech Festival. Each week, you'll have the opportunity to share a story with the class, building your confidence in communication. Prior to each class, you'll receive three different short stories to read. You'll select your favorite that you want to read aloud to the class. But we want to go beyond reading, you want to captivate your audience! We will teach you to do that through inflection, gestures, facial expressions, and more. Through engaging activities and supportive guidance, you'll learn to enhance your storytelling by focusing on pacing, enunciation, emotion, and eye contact. Have a prop or a plushie that would add to the experience? Bring it along! In a warm and encouraging atmosphere, every learner will have the chance to present their story, receiving applause and positive feedback from the teacher. If time permits, you'll also have the opportunity to share positive feedback with your classmates. Have a story already that you are looking to fine-tune for an upcoming presentation or competition? Or love to write your own? That's welcome too! Just reach out to the teacher in advance so we can make sure it will fit with the timing permitted per learner based on the class size. This course aims to provide a safe space for all learners to practice reading aloud and improve their presentation skills. Step into a world where you can develop your language abilities with confidence and flourish in your communication journey!
Learning Goals
Students will practice reading aloud, but also learn how to use their voice, gestures, and facial expressions to enhance their storytelling.

Hello! I'm Elizabeth Green, founder of Green Communications and My Speech and Debate Coach.
I'm honored to lead a small group of teachers with a passion for helping kids learn how to communicate confidently and effectively in public speaking situations.
We all have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree with a focus on communications (Broadcast Journalism, Theater, Public Relations, etc). We have won numerous awards, competitions and national titles in public speaking and debate.
But most importantly, we know how it feels to be uncomfortable in a public speaking situation, and the importance of overcoming that. We all went through shy stages as children until we had that ONE teacher who impacted us in a way that propelled us to self-confidence, public speaking competitions, and even careers in communications!
Whether it's having the courage to stand up and spell an unknown word in a spelling bee, write and/or deliver compelling lines from a play, craft an effective impromptu speech, or seal the deal in a debate tournament with a persuasive closing round, our goal is to BE that teacher for your child.
And, have a lot of fun in the process. :)
