During this 4-week course (meets 2x per week), students will learn a pain free way to learn pre-algebra and beginning algebra. This course is taught in a non-traditional way using silly songs, games and props to help the student painlessly learn the basic concepts of algebra. Week 1: Students will learn the vocabulary used in algebra (Ex: integer, variables, expression, coefficient). We will discuss mathematical operations. Students will learn why zero is an unusual number. We will finish week 1 by learning order of operations. Week 2: We will talk about the 5 properties (2 Commutative: 2 Associative: 1 Distributive). Students will learn positive and negative integers. We will cover inequalities (<,>) and learn to add and subtract integers. Week 3: Students will learn to multiply integers the easy way. We will cover the 5 possible cases when dividing integers. Don't worry, an easy-to-follow printout will be provided. Students will solve several word problems. Week 4: We will finish out this short course by learning to solve equations with one variable, with lots of hands on practice. We will also learn how to solve inequalities. This course is taught using a non-traditional method. Using silly songs and sayings, props and is intended to make pre-algebra and beginning algebra fun. Students are expected to actively participate in this high energy course.

Bachelor's Degree from Northeastern State University
Hello! My name is Ms Lauren Kimberly Iseley and I live in Oklahoma, USA. I am a mother of a 25 year old and an 18 year old. I home schooled both of my children from kindergarten to college. I love teaching and I am known for being very patient and encouraging.
I hold a degree in Accounting and a degree in Business Administration (Quantitative Analysis).
I really enjoy crafting and being super-creative! Creativity helps expand our minds and helps us solve everyday problems with "out of the box" solutions. Creativity is something that needs to be nurtured in every child.
I absolutely love to sew! Sewing gives us a multitude of skills - patience, persistence, creativity, and math.
I also teach math. If your student is struggling in math, it is most likely because they aren't having fun learning! Consider this....you can remember the words to a song but you can't remember basic math calculations. That is because the songs were set to music and your brain associated the song with fun....I teach math based on this principle.
I am an award-winning cake artist and love crafting and baking. I am excited to get to know your student and help them achieve their goals!
