Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 8
I used to tell my math students, "I'm not a big fan of numbers and equations. I especially dislike things like decimals and fractions. But, I absolutely love a puzzles, riddles, and finding clues to solve a good mystery." Well Math is all of those things that I love and more. Half the battle students face with math is confidence and the other half is interest or engagement. When students can associate math to a fun and challenging puzzle or mystery, and experience success in solving that puzzle or mystery, then suddenly math becomes interesting and fun rather than a great dragon they are unable to slay.

The Pre-Algebra Class is structured into four quarters with eight, one-hour sessions per quarter. The first quarter covers key concepts including, operations with integers, graphing in four quadrants, fractions and decimals, algebraic expressions, solving equations and more.
The classes are designed for grades six through eight and are relevant to 6th grade students who need challenged in their current math studies, 7th grade students who would benefit from support, and 8th grade students who need a review for their foundational understanding of Algebra concepts.
Classes are open to six students maximum and are accessed via the Zoom Platform. It is not necessary for students to attend all four quarters to participate in the classes.
