US Grade Preschool - Pre-Kindergarten
This class will introduce students to the sounds of letters, how to count syllables, and how to identify rhyming words. These early literacy skills will prepare young students for reading in the near future. I will teach students the sounds of letters A - Z with picture cues. Next, students will practice clapping out their names and other 1, 2, and 3 syllable words. Finally, we will enjoy some rhymes and practice identifying rhyming words together. The class will be interactive and allow all students a chance to participate and engage with one another. I am trained in Orton-Gillingham methods and will use various techniques throughout the class to help students build skills they can use in their every day reading and encounters with letters and words. Students will benefit from knowing the names of letters prior to class, but it is not required.
