Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Each week the teacher will provide an explorative mini lesson on two Greek or Latin roots. Students will learn the meaning, origin, and various words that contain the root. After the brief lesson, students will participate in an interactive Among Us style game, called Trust No One. Learners will be divided into two groups, crewmates and imposters. Learners will be asked to answer a series of questions related to vocabulary words with the roots, synonyms, antonyms, or correct sentence usage. Learners will use their points to run investigations or call meetings to help determine who the imposters are in the game. The more questions a student can answer correctly during the game, the more opportunities the learner has to run investigations and help their team win the game.

Hi, I specialize in teaching reading. It is my passion to introduce students to books and develop a love for reading in kids of all ages. I have a masters degree in education from Columbia University's Teachers College and a special education certificate in special education from Brooklyn College in New York City. I have worked as a peer tutor, as a test prep tutor, and as an Orton-Gillingham tutor, helping students overcome various reading difficulties to achieve their goals. I also worked as a reading teacher and a special education teacher at a title 1 charter school in NYC. I believe that every child has the potential to become an avid reader, we just have to ignite their passion and build their skills in an individualized way. I recently moved from NYC to live near the ocean. My hobbies include going to the beach, traveling, playing tennis, and or course READING!
