This class introduces young learners to the world of patterns and sequences through interactive games, hands-on activities, and creative exercises. Each week, children will explore different types of patterns, learning to recognize, create, and extend them using everyday objects and fun themes. Week 1 : Introduction to Patterns • Focus: What is a Pattern? • Activity: Explore basic ABAB patterns using colorful objects (e.g., blocks, beads). Students will create their own patterns and share with the class. • Objective: Understand what a pattern is and how to identify simple patterns. Week 2 : Patterns in Nature • Focus: Recognizing Patterns in the Natural World • Activity: Identify and create patterns found in nature (e.g., leaves, flowers, animal stripes). Use pictures and real objects to explore natural patterns. • Objective: Learn how patterns exist in nature and practice identifying them. Week 3 : Pattern Play with Colors • Focus: Exploring Color Patterns • Activity: Create color patterns using crayons, markers, or colored paper. Students will extend and complete color sequences. • Objective: Develop an understanding of color patterns and practice creating and extending them. Week 4 : Shape Patterns • Focus: Discovering Patterns with Shapes • Activity: Use various shapes (e.g., circles, squares, triangles) to build patterns. Students will create and extend shape patterns using craft materials. • Objective: Recognize and create patterns using different shapes, reinforcing the concept of geometric patterns. Week 5 : Movement Patterns • Focus: Learning Patterns Through Movement • Activity: Engage in movement-based patterns (e.g., clap, jump, stomp). Students will follow and create their own movement patterns. • Objective: Understand patterns through physical activity, connecting movement with sequencing. Week 6 : Sound Patterns • Focus: Patterns in Music and Sound • Activity: Create rhythmic patterns using simple instruments or clapping. Students will listen to and create sound patterns. • Objective: Explore auditory patterns, linking patterns to rhythm and sound. Week 7 : Pattern Puzzles • Focus: Solving and Creating Pattern Puzzles • Activity: Solve pattern puzzles using a variety of materials (e.g., puzzle pieces, beads). Students will create their own pattern puzzles for classmates to solve. • Objective: Develop problem-solving skills by recognizing and completing pattern puzzles. Week 8 : Pattern Parade • Focus: Celebrating Patterns • Activity: Review and create complex patterns using different elements from previous weeks (colors, shapes, sounds, movements). Students will showcase their patterns in a “Pattern Parade.” • Objective: Reinforce all the pattern concepts learned, encouraging creativity and collaboration.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I’m Tiffany, an enthusiastic learner and educator passionate about inspiring young minds—especially neurodivergent, gifted, and curious learners—to appreciate the beauty and potential of math, science and beyond. My teaching approach is flexible; I draw inspiration from diverse sources to craft dynamic, engaging lessons tailored to each student's unique needs.
As a self-taught individual in many areas fueled by my love for discovery, I believe learning is a journey rather than a destination. My academic background includes majors in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science and Foreign Languages. While my primary academic focus is in mathematics and computer science, I have studied physics extensively in both high school , college, and beyond through years of self study. I integrate physics concepts into my teaching, using an interdisciplinary approach that connects math, science, and real-world applications. My experience includes teaching physics-related topics such as astrophysics, space science, and engineering principles, with a focus on making these subjects engaging and accessible to diverse learners.
These fields have shaped my worldview and reinforced the belief that all subjects are intricately interconnected. Math, science, language, and art come together to narrate our world’s story—and I'm here to help students uncover those connections.
Math has always been my favorite subject due to its boundless possibilities—from nature to technology, music to design. For neurodivergent learners or those who may feel out of place in traditional settings, I strive to make math approachable by connecting it with real-life situations that resonate with their interests. This personalized approach nurtures curiosity while validating different learning styles.
In my classes—including small groups designed for individualized attention—I create a warm environment where every student’s voice matters. Whether we’re exploring math through everyday activities or diving into the wonders of science or history's richness or language's intricacies—I emphasize practical hands-on learning experiences alongside movement during lessons for an engaging atmosphere suited for diverse ways of thinking.
Challenges are part of any learning journey; overcoming obstacles requires developing perseverance and resilience—qualities I aim to cultivate in every student. With over 20 years working with learners across various backgrounds—including those with disabilities—I understand the importance of adaptability and empathy in fostering success.
When I'm not teaching—where I've been homeschooling my son for over three years—you can find me playing with my cat Bandana Waddle Dee or diving into creative projects that inspire fresh ideas for instruction tailored specifically toward neurodivergent and gifted students who crave deeper understanding.
Currently completing dual degrees in Computer Science (with a concentration in Cybersecurity) / Applied Mathematics from Towson University—which will be completed within 1.5 semesters—I’ve also volunteered at the Hussmann Center for Adults With Autism since 2021 while undergoing continuous training focused on supporting neurodivergent individuals through Kennedy Krieger Institute.
As professionals working together toward educational goals: let’s embrace this exciting journey filled with discovery where each learner's unique perspective holds immense value—transforming every subject into grand adventures uniquely tailored.
