What This Class Is:
-------------------------
In this ongoing pre-k class learners will practice math skills week. Young learners shouldn’t be expected to sit longer than 15-20 minutes at a time, so this is a very appropriate time limit for focusing on math each day! Pre-K Math will rely on repetition each day for your child to practice math skills needed for kindergarten. Each week we will work on a special math skill.

Schedule:
-------------------------

FALL 2024:

September 2nd: Counting
September 9: Patterns
September 16th: Sorting and Graphing
September 23rd: 2D Shapes
September 30th: Symmetry
October 7th: Ordinal Numbers
October 14th: Probability
October 21st: Measurement week 1 Length
October 28th: Measurement week 2 Exploring more measurements
November 4th: Parts and Wholes, Fair shares
November 11th: Addition
November 18th: Subtraction

What We Will Do Everyday:
--------------------------------
Counting: We will be counting every day! We will count the days as well as the reward system I use.

Identifying numbers: We will identify numbers as we count and talk about what day it is.

Colors, 2D shapes, and patterns: I will use pattern number cards that will change monthly. October is a themed pattern!

Days of the week and months of the year will be identified.

Watch a fun learning video on Youtube for a little movement and music time.

How I Run The Class:
-------------------------
A positive reward system will be used for behavior and participation. I will be giving the students objects during the class and we will always count them at the end. This is a good way for students to count one to one as well as practice counting objects up to 10.

*** Students' mics will be muted if needed, but I do allow quite a bit of talking and let students call out the answers sometimes. I also call students by name to take a turn. I will mute if a student is talking about other things during math time, if there is a lot of background noise, and if I want to give the other students a chance to answer a question or participate. I try to keep talking at a minimum unless it is productive. You may hear me say sharing time is at the end of class. Occasionally I will stay extra in case anyone wants to share something that is not math-related.

Prerequisites:
---------------------
You can join this class at any time. The classes don't build on each other.

Important Information:
------------------------
If there is a holiday or I have to cancel for any reason make-up days will be held on Fridays during your regular time. Sometimes life happens, so I will let you know as soon as possible!

Come join me in the classroom. Let's have fun this summer while learning pre-k math skills! Hope to see you soon.

Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from University of New Orleans
Hello,
I’m Mrs. Krause. I have a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from the University of New Orleans and I’m certified in three different states in grade levels pre-k through third grade.

I wanted to become a teacher because I love helping kids learn new concepts and skills. I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment in order for students to become confident and successful learners. I have over 8 years of experience teaching all subjects. I have 4 years of experience as a lead teacher in a traditional classroom.

I had my daughter in 2019 and that was when I started to look into teaching online. I have been with Outschool for over a year now and I absolutely love being able to connect with so many students. I am also fortunate that teaching at Outschool allows me the flexibility to stay at home with my almost 2-year-old, Autumn.

I love teaching math and talking about books. My class list is basically math, book clubs, and a touch of Halloween. I am excited to share my love and passion for learning with your child and I hope that it sparks their love of learning! See you in the classroom!

Kindly,
Mrs. Krause
