What This Class Is:
-------------------------
In this ongoing kindergarten class learners will practice math skills week. Young learners shouldn’t be expected to sit longer than 20 minutes at a time, so this is a very appropriate time limit for focusing on math each day! Pre-K Math will rely on repetition each day in order for your child to practice math skills needed for kindergarten and beyond. Each week we will work on a special math skill.

December 16th: Money/Skip Counting by 10s, 5s, 
December 22nd: Holiday Break!
December 30th: Sorting and Graphing
January 6th: Comparing Numbers (Less than, Greater than signs)
January 12th: Measurement (length, mass, capacity, temperature)
January 19th: 5th: 2D shape review/3D Shapes
January 26th: Symmetry
February 3rd: Time
February 9th: Beginning Fractions
February 16th: Probability
February 23rd: Addition 
March 3rd: Subtraction
March 10th: Ordinal Numbers 
March 17th: Patterns and Growing Patterns

 What We Will Do Everyday

Counting: We will be counting every day! We count different things based on what we are learning as well as the reward system I use. 

Identifying numbers: We will be identifying numbers as we count and when we talk about what day it is. We will also write the number of the day.

Colors, 3D shapes, and patterns: I will use pattern number cards that will change monthly. 

Days of the week and months of the year will be identified.

At the end of class students may share one thing with the class.


How I Run The Class

A positive reward system will be used for behavior and participation. I will be giving the students objects during the class and we will always count them at the end. This is a good way for students to count one to one as well as practice counting objects.

*** Students' mics will be muted if needed. Since this is an advanced class I expect a little more out of the students. I call students by name to take a turn. I will mute if a student is talking about other things during math time, if there is a lot of background noise, or if I want to give the other students a chance to answer a question or participate. I try to keep talking at a minimum unless it is productive. You may hear me say sharing time is at the end of class. Occasionally I will stay extra in case anyone wants to share something that is not math-related.

Prerequisites:
---------------------
You can join this class at any time. The classes don't build on each other. There is a class before this called Pre-K Math, however, you do not need to take it in order to enroll in this one. You know your child best! 


Important Information:

If there is a holiday or I have to cancel for any reason make-up days will be held on Fridays during your regular time. Sometimes life happens, so I will let you know as soon as possible!
