In this ongoing course, students will use phonics patterns to read multisyllabic words.
US Grade 1 - 2
In this full year ongoing course, students will review phonics patterns, then use them to build, read, and write multisyllabic words. We will also learn/review a few sight words (so that we can read sentences)! During this class, we will use whiteboards, letter cards, sorts, and games to gain lots of exposure to words with phonics patterns. With practice, learners will become fluent in reading these words! Before graduating college, I worked as an afterschool tutor for students grades K-6 for 2 years. I earned a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Weber State University in 2014. I taught 1st grade for 4 years before becoming a stay-at-home mother.
Homework OfferedNo homework is assigned, but an activity sheet will be provided weekly for at-home practice.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Access to a printer, scissors, glue, pencils, crayons and a whiteboard/dry-erase marker may be needed for class. I will send a weekly message with information about weekly class materials.
Use of scissors before and after class for letter cards and worksheet sort.
