Students will spend five days in "boot camp" to strengthen fraction skills! Don't worry-no yelling or pushups required! Students will have fun using manipulatives and games to master basic concepts of fractions: Day 1: Identifying Fractions and Equivalent Fractions and Comparing Fractions Day 2: Reducing Fractions & Mixed Numbers Day 3: Adding & Subtracting Fractions Day 4: Multiplying and Dividing Fractions Day 5: Real Life Application Students don't need to have experience with fractions but should able to multiply and divide up to twenty. This course is ideal for students who have completed 3rd Grade or beyond. Most of the content of this course is 4th/5th Grade fraction skills.
Learning Goals
Students will:
-learn to recognize fractions and equivalent fractions
-learn to compare fractions
-learn to reduce fractions
-learn to convert between fractions and mixed numbers
-learn to add, subtract, multiply, and divide basic fractions
-recognize how fractions are used in daily life
