Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 6
In this class students will review math concepts taught in 5th Grade in preparation for 6th Grade through games, manipulatives, and other activities. Students will have the opportunity to socialize while having fun and learning. Each class will focus on a core math concept:

Day 1: Long Division (One or Two Digit Divisors, depending on class readiness)
Day 2: Adding & Subtracting Fractions
Day 3: Multiplying & Dividing Fractions
Day 4: Decimal Basics
Day 5: Operations with Decimals

Students should have completed 5th Grade or have knowledge of 5th Grade math concepts, including adding and subtracting with carrying, multiplication and division fluency up to 12, and recognizing basic fractions (one half, one third, one fourth). Students do not need to have mastered these concepts but should have a foundation in them.

I am a homeschool parent with a background in elementary education as well as a background in math and finance.

I look forward to meeting your child!

I'm an accountant with a teaching background who enjoys learning and strives to foster a love of learning in students through games and interactive learning. I believe students learn best when they are having fun and interacting with the material.

I have always had a passion for learning and have diverse interests. I'm especially passionate about building strong foundations in language and math. I believe confidence in these two areas will give students the tools to learn almost anything they'd like to in life.

As an accountant, I have expertise in mathematics and finance. I'm an Enrolled Agent and believe everyone should be proficient in budgeting and personal finance. I believe a strong foundation in math is important to develop advanced skills with numbers later in life. Likewise, strong grammar and language skills will help students communicate effectively and give them the tools to learn anything they'd like to. I'm also passionate about culture and language and have formally studied nine languages, including studying abroad. I want to share the world with students through language and exploration.

I hope to share my love of learning with each of my students as they explore their personal interests. In doing so, students will become lifelong learners and continue to grow in and out of the classroom.
