Welcome to Little Learners: Social Emotional Learning Adventures! This engaging and interactive class is designed specifically for children ages 4-7 to embark on exciting adventures in social and emotional learning (SEL). Each session is carefully crafted to provide your child with valuable opportunities to develop essential skills such as empathy, self-awareness, communication, and problem-solving. Your child can expect a dynamic and supportive learning environment where they will: Explore a New Theme Each Week: From understanding feelings to practicing mindfulness, each session focuses on a different SEL topic to keep the learning experience fresh and engaging. Engage in Interactive Activities: Through storytelling, games, and hands-on activities, your child will actively participate in learning and practicing important social and emotional skills. Foster Meaningful Connections: Our inclusive and supportive class environment encourages children to build positive relationships with their peers while learning and growing together. Develop Lifelong Skills: This class aims to equip your child with the tools they need to navigate social situations, regulate emotions, and build healthy relationships both now and in the future. ______________________________________________________________________ Topics are as follows and are independent of each other. Your learner may join the class at any point, for any topic. After the 20 week cycle, the topics will cycle back to the beginning. Week of June 3rd- Understanding Feelings: Identifying and expressing different emotions. Week of June 10th- Friendship Skills: Building and maintaining positive relationships with peers. Week of June 17th- Kindness and Compassion: Showing empathy and caring for others. Week of July 1st- Problem-Solving: Learning strategies to resolve conflicts peacefully. Week of July 8th- Self-Confidence: Building belief in oneself and one's abilities. Week of July 15th- Respect and Inclusion: Valuing diversity and treating others with respect. Week of July 22nd- Mindfulness and Relaxation: Practicing techniques to manage stress and calm the mind. Week of July 29th- Growth Mindset: Embracing challenges and persisting through setbacks. Week of August 5th- Gratitude and Appreciation: Cultivating a sense of thankfulness and recognizing blessings. Week of August 12th- Active Listening: Developing skills to listen attentively and understand others' perspectives. Week of August 19th- Assertiveness: Communicating thoughts, feelings, and needs assertively and respectfully. Week of August 26th- Emotional Regulation: Learning strategies to manage strong emotions effectively. Week of September 2nd- Teamwork and Cooperation: Working collaboratively with others towards common goals. Week of September 9th- Self-Compassion: Being kind and understanding towards oneself, especially during difficult times. Week of September 16th- Conflict Resolution: Resolving conflicts peacefully and finding win-win solutions. Week of September 23rd- Resilience: Bouncing back from challenges and setbacks with strength and determination. Week of September 30th- Empathy Building: Understanding and sharing the feelings of others. Week of October 7th- Positive Self-Talk: Cultivating a positive inner dialogue and self-affirmation. Week of October 14th- Acceptance of Differences: Embracing diversity and celebrating individual uniqueness. Week of October 21st- Setting Boundaries: Understanding personal boundaries and respecting the boundaries of others. Future dates to be posted.
Learning Goals
Learners will understand and identify the feelings of others, fostering empathy and compassion in their interactions through storytelling and interactive activities.
Learners will build confidence in expressing their thoughts and feelings, as well as listening attentively to others, through engaging in group discussions and collaborative activities.
Learners will practice critical thinking and effective problem-solving strategies, developing resilience in facing challenges and resolving conflicts through hands-on activities and games.

Parental Guidance
There may be occasional scissor usage for some activities. If your child is not skilled in scissor use, it is suggested that you be nearby for assistance as necessary.

Bachelor's Degree in Human Development Family Studies from Howard University
I have a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Howard University. After graduation I taught one year in 2nd grade before moving to join the kindergarten team for 5 years. I decided to leave the classroom when my first son was born but my passion for teaching and learning have never dissipated. I now homeschool both of my sons, ages 6 and 9 and have taught multiple online classes since 2020.
